The cabinet has decided in principle to declare 12th December as Information and Communication Technology Day. The decision was taken to make the declaration of digital Bangladesh’s manifesto memorable.The proposal was accepted at the cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Office on Monday. After the meeting cabinet secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam delivered the information at the cabinet division conference room in the secretariat.
The cabinet secretary said, Awami League declared outline of digital Bangladesh in their election manifesto on 12th December, 2008. For that reason the government wants to make the day memorable.He said, the country is forwarding unimaginably in the ICT sector. Bangladesh is one of the best seven to eight countries regarding the user number of mobile phones and internet. Considering the matters Information and Communication Technology division proposed to declare the day as Information and Communication Technology Day. The cabinet approved it today.Besides, government approved in principle the draft of Barendra Multipurpose Development Authority Act 2017.The cabinet also greeted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as she gained position in the top list in two special surveys conducted over the government chiefs around the world and granddaughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and daughter of Sheikh Rehana Tulip Siddiq for achieving award of ‘Labor Newcomer MP of the year’.
