Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has ordered everyone not to wear masks at the Mongol Shovajatra in this year’s Pahela Baishakh celebration.
The instruction came from the DMP on Tuesday.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia has claimed that DMP has drawn up a “foolproof security plan” for Pahela Baishakh.
This year, Pahela Baishakh, the day of Bangla New Year, will be celebrated on April 14, Friday.
The DMP Commissioner stated that every inch of Dhaka University, Ramna and Suhrawardy Udyan has already been placed under CCTV surveillance.
To ensure further close-quarter monitoring and safety, the ‘Mongol Shovajatra’ (Pahela Baishakh rally) will be escorted by cops.
Road curbs will be placed and diversion will be made at 27 points to ensure smooth plying of vehicles.
However, Asaduzzaman Mia has said that there is no specific security threat to the celebration of this year’s Pahela Baishakh.
